Today’s the day that U.S. soccer fans have been waiting for: The Americans make their World Cup debut in this year’s tournament. The Americans play the Czech Republic in a match that’s scheduled to start at noon Eastern time. In other games today, Australia beat Japan 3-1 and Italy takes on Ghana.
USA was thoroughly defeated 3-0 by the Czech Republic in a lously game for the USA World Cup Team.
Yesterday the Netherlands, Mexico and Portugal won their World Cup openers.
The Netherlands has joined Argentina atop Group C at World Cup by knocking off Serbia-Montenegro 1-0. The Dutch never relinquished the lead after scoring in the 18th minute.
Mexico scored twice in the last 15 minutes to beat Iran 3-1 in Group D.
Portugal blanked World Cup newcomer Angola, 1-0 in another Group D match. Pauleta scored in the fourth minute. But that was all the offense and the Portugal side was getting booed at the end of the match.
